Mike..you’re right, that might be a bit high for 1962. I looked it up and the national average for a gallon of regular was 31 cents. But this was a hot rod so we burned “Ethyl.” Now you know I’m older than 48 if I use that old phrase.
Joanie..you said you wern’t going to mention that incident..or the one a couple weeks earlier..or the dead battery in Omaha…or the…
Christy..I wondered which one of you kids would be the first to comment. Maybe now I won’t bother to fix the flapper on the downstairs toilet before you get here this summer. Oh wait, I just did fix that and it’s not working again. Maybe you have a point.

Oh Joanie, he once replaced my spark plugs in my little Mazda and while he did get the job done, my car interior never looked the same. I can’t decide my favorite tool incident . . the cutting off of the belt on the leather jacket or the drilling of holes in corn cobs for the squirrels. The list goes on and that’s why we love you Dad!!
