I,m the opposite. My kids bought me my first computer for my 50th birthday. ( thats been quite awhile back. )
I not only solve my own computer issues, most of my friends & neighbors
also have me trouble shoot there computers when problems pop up.
Guess I just have a knack for them. I also install my own hardware,
like memory / ram upgrades, DVD burners & players, power packs, etc.
The first time I tore a computer in a dozen parts on my kitchen table
my wife was positive it would never work again ! It not only worked,
it was better than ever. Just lucky I guess.

Whatever you do, never click on the “classmates.com” ad. That will crash your system and destroy your hard drive faster than anything else you could do to it. Even the guys at Green Eggs & Ram couldn’t get my system going after I clicked on Classmates.com. I had to buy a new computer. If you want to connect with your old high school pals, do it on Facebook.

If you have a pc, store all your info on a zip or external hard drive, they’re cheap and then if you need to do a factory restore (easy with Toshiba or HP) when you get a virus, it will make your experience much less painful and time consuming. Also, yes get a mac if you can afford it.

Hey Doug- I forgot to ask you, do you remember maybe 2 years back when KELO did a news story about the baby boomers getting on Facebook? I think the name of the story was something like “Fogies on Facebook”. haha!

Ditch the PC and get a Mac. I’ve been using one for 3 years now and haven’t had any issues with viruses, plus it automatically updates its software so I’m always running the most current programs.

I can join you in your frustration with these punks who have nothing better to do then drive me bonkers. I went to turn on my computer last Thursday only to have the so-called “blue screen of death” pop up. It said my computer had been infected with all the wares as well. I found it interesting because the word “your” was spelled “your’re” when it was saying “WARNING! YOUR’RE COMPUTER HAS BEEN INFECTED!” I now have the computer tech here at work trying to save all my stuff and wiping it clean. GET A LIFE PUNKS!

As we Silver Surfers know, sometimes we have trouble with our computers.

I had a problem yesterday, so I called Eric, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over. Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, ‘So, what was wrong?

He replied, ‘It was an ID ten T error.’

I didn’t want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired,
‘An ID ten T error? What’s that? In case I need to fix it again.’

Eric grinned. ‘Haven’t you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?

‘No,’ I replied.

‘Write it down,’ he said, ‘and I think you’ll figure it out.’

So I wrote down: ID10T
