We spend several hours planning our coverage so our crews are in the right spots to cover the winners and losers when the results come in.

The viewers at home just see the results that scroll across the screen and the live cut-ins to programming, but what you don’t see is the work that happens to bring you those live reports and numbers instantaneously.

I took along a camera during my assignments for the Sioux Falls mayoral race to give you an inside look at what it takes to cover an election.
