More rain this morning has created flash flooding issues throughout southeast South Dakota, and we’re on top of the story again today.

The town of Shindler was hit hard on Friday (they’re still cleaning up) from the overnight rain and we’re back to see what this latest round means for homeowners.

It’s all the familiar spots getting hit again, so we’ll give you an update on how people are dealing with it.

Flooding along the Vermillion River has shut down Highways 18 and 46 in some parts.  We’re also checking out the situation in Alpena and the dam at Rose Hill Lake that broke Friday.

Something else worth noting:  There are parks in Sioux Falls that are affected by flooding, especially Tuthill Park.  The water in this area is full of untreated wastewater after a lift station failure from Friday’s flooding.  Yet one of our reporters has seen kids playing in this water.  She did stop to tell one mom what her son was really playing in.

So be careful out there.  Floodwaters are dangerous, for more than just the obvious reason.
