Rain was the story last week; it’s only logical that flooding is the story for this Monday morning. We have crews covering the impact of the flooding across the state. From Hitchcock to Ravinia, Parkston to the James River near Olivet. We’re getting plenty of uShare photos of the flooding from across KELOLAND as well. You can find those here: http://www.keloland.com/photogallery/PhotoAlbumPreDetail6278.cfm?SubCategoryId=42Flooding was the main topic of discussion at this morning’s meeting. We also looked at the campground flood story out of Arkansas where a 20th victim has been found. With the heavy rainfall our area has seen recently, are there any areas we could see a similar situation? — UPDATE: 10:45 a.m. The City of Sioux Falls issued a release moments ago with the names of three appointees to department head positions and the name of a new city attorney. [Huether Announces City Attorney, Director Appointments] Right now, we know two of the positions do not require approval from the city council — Director of Community Development and Public Parking and Director of Central Services. But because the
Public Health Director oversees more than 5 percent of the city’s budget, this appointee — Jill Franken — will need approval by the City Council at a meeting on June 21. The appointee for city attorney will also need similar approval. We’ll have the latest on this story tonight on KELOLAND News.
